Marvelous Monday

After an eventful weekend, I am so happy for it to be a new week! As I mentioned in my last Monday's post I was having my birthday celebration over the weekend [Ended up going to Tallywackers, Drag Show, Celebrate Freedom, and a family dinner at On The Border]To say the least, it was an experience! Also I will never be going to a drag show again [yes, I went to one...] Besides that I got to spend some time with wonderful family members of mine and I finished my book 'winners never cheat by. Jon M. Huntsman'. However, I did not get to pack my suit case and bags for Montana nor start the book I have planned. Instead I started one of the books I picked up from Mardel this past Tuesday, 'The power of a praying wife. by. Stormie Omartian.', which is really a great book so far!
Now this week is going to be GREAT ! For one reason,.....

13 reasons you are not losing weight. [Talk about it Thursday]

"Miriah, I just cannot lose weight...I am doing everything I am suppose to but I am still not seeing any difference."

I hear this a lot and the reasons on why most people are not losing weight, is for reasons they do not even notice! Not right off the back anyways. After going through trouble shooting with my clients and reflecting on their daily routine, not only can I point out things that are stopping them but also they start to see it. "Wait... I have been _____." and "Do you think ____ could be a problem with me not losing weight?". Which there is nothing at all to be shamed about. Nor any reason not to grab someone, sit down with them and just say, "hey I am having trouble losing weight. Can you help me found out why.". With many people doing this with me, I have decided to bring to light some of the top reasons on why most people just are not losing weight. Here they are;

Lord, make me more like you.

 Lord empty me of me, so I can be filled with you.

About 30 minutes from my house in Mesquite, there is a store called Mardel. [there are 33 other locations also. 21 being in Texas. Yeehaaw] This is by far one of my favorite stores. Just the moment you walk in, I get a sense of peace. Even if i'm not going to buy anything, being in there is a pleasure. It is that kind of store. [for me anyways]  However I had to stop by there today after getting my hair done. I grew up in a Christ filled home, I went to a church every Sunday, VBS, etc.I did this from birth to middle school. Then once moving I moved from middle school to my sophomore year I went to church on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. Then from my junior and senior year I was lost. Disconnected from God. Living a life of my own desires. It was awful. Then I graduated, moved to a different city and got back into church. A church I absolutely love! [Lake Pointe in Rockwall, Tx.] Sense reconnecting with God, it has been different.

Friendship [Thankful Tuesday] Plus some free stuff!

Coming into this week for Thankful Tuesday, there was no question on what I was going to write about. Jessica Jones is my dearest best friend that I met in October 2013 right before the Marine's Corps Ball. Her husband is friends with mine as they were in the same company so it made sense for us to get to know one another. Who would have thought though we would've hit it off and became the best of friends that night! [Don't worry Jess.. I am not going to go into our story. hahah.] Everyone says, "You will meet your life time friend in college.", I always thought that was cool only if I really finished college to find out. Instead I learned something not everyone gets to find out. You find TRUE life long friends in the military. [Oh and do not get me wrong there are some fake ones in there also.] But there is a bonding you have and a understanding when your husbands are putting their life on the line, no phone calls for weeks, not sight of them for months, and just the distance not only you and your husband go through but even as friends! Out of mine and Jessica's friendship we have seen one another for about three months as we lived in the same apartment complex [so awesome!] and the rest has been distance [thank you USMC], which has not changed anything in our friendship. And although we may not have grown up together, Lord knows we have went through some very defining moments in our lives sense being friends! I cannot explain enough how she has changed my life in going on two years but I know I could not have gone through 3/4ths of the things I have.

Liebster Award [Marvelous Monday]

Mondays are really the best day of the week to me. I love them! Starting a fresh week, it's the day after church, having things planed ahead to do, I love it all. Monday's however really go unappreciated. I think because people are following a routine they hate.. Going to a job they do not like, Waking up at a time that they think humans should not be able to function at, or just to go to school.. I mean really who likes school... I use to feel this way about the start of a new week before I dropped all that 'average living' of things that did not make me happy.  Which made me decide to start blogging on 'Marvelous Monday', this is for me to take the time out of my day to post about the things that make me happy, excited and what I have planned for the week! Sometimes this is nothing 'special' but others I have a very exciting week! So here we go!

SKIP ROPE. Not a workout.

Did you ever jump rope in middle school? On the playground or during P.E? I did. At my elementary school during P.E we did the "Jump Rope for Heart" [I am not too sure if this was a living in the ghetto school thing because the friends that did not grow up where I did, never did it.] but I absolutely loved it! I was good too. I loved doing tricks, the competitions, everything. Luckily, I still got it. May be a little rusty with some tricks but I still enjoy jumping rope as much as I did back then.
And with me not being the one that can stick with the same routine and not get burned out on it... I decided to switch my mornings up with jumping rope instead of the morning run around my neighborhood. Which went amazing I might add.

When I started though I noticed something. I was sweating already before five minutes.... Which is a huge deal for me. Not because I do not like sweat [because I could care less. Sweat does not bother me] but it takes a lot for me to sweat! No matter how hard I go with resistance training, It takes me about an 45 min-hour to start sweating... Running in a 5k? I don't start sweating till mile two... So when I started sweating jump roping through only one song, I started to think back on all the benefits it offers! Which are some pretty amazing ones!

Stop and open your eyes to what is in front of you. [Talk about it Thursday]

Last Tuesday [thankful Tuesday] I posted a blog about my four legged son and how he has helped me over the past year. And throughout this whole week I have been thinking about the things I am truly grateful to have in my life. The things that really make me happy. I kept coming up with the things I can physically do; camping, hiking, working out, hanging out with family, drawing, getting tattoos, spending time with Raul, hunting, church, eating some pizza, etc.

The book that changed my life. [Marvelous Monday]

Being productive and being busy are not necessarily the same things.
Doing things will not create you success, doing the right things will.

Growing up I hated reading... Wait no, I despised it! I barely had a passing grade in English, my mom would read my books and write the summaries for me and you want to talk about summer reading? Yeah right. Whatever.... After graduating and getting into college I read a quote, "80 percent of people do not read another book for the rest of their lives after high school." I thought this was insane... Not wanting to be a number in the statistics, I picked up some books. Quickly learning I am the type of reader that if it is not true and does not improve me in any way; I wont read it. I just can not. It is boring....I don't understand it... And I am a very creative person. But with books? Nope.

Be MORE! Want more out of YOUR LIFE!

November 3rd, 2014, I joined AdvoCare in the goal to give my clients safe and effective products that they can use in their every day life no matter what their goal might have been. I was a daily user of the products and seen just how much they had personally changed my life. I began to share this with all of my family and friends. Raul then joined me in AdvoCare and we continued to take off in the journey. One day though I woke up and had this sluggish feeling take over me.. I kept thinking, "I have to do more..", I want to be more. And I knew what It was going to take. Raul and I then on January 29th, 2015 went all in with AdvoCare and became Advisors bringing in $1600 in 12 days. We then continued to build a team, change their lives and give them the freedom they have been praying about having. Now in June 2015 Raul and I are still going at it. Less than two months away from going to Success School we have a goal, a vision, a plan. One that most people, well 97 percent of the world would laugh at and say no way. Not possible. Raul and I set a goal, wrote it down and put a date on it (if you know anything about goal setting and wanting something. You know once it is on paper with a deadline; things are real) We will be bringing in 6 figures ($100,781, 6 star ruby) in four years! Why is this though? We have the desire to be better. To provide our families with something better, to live a life of freedom and options. We are the 2 percent and we choose this!

9 ways to stay cool working out this summer.

Oh summer time is here and if you're in Texas, you know the summer heat does not play.. Going outside seems to be a punishment if you are not jumping into a pool and you want to talk about going out there to exercise on 80-105 degree weather? You must be insane....
There are times like now in summer time where it might be a good idea to dust off the old gym membership card and take it inside. If you're like me though and live about 20 minutes from a gym or do not have a gym membership, you make due with the great out doors that you have! And you learn the ways that stay cool outside. Working the sweet system of mother nature. This comes with some tricks though! These are some that I do;

The 12 people you HATE when trying to lose weight!

Weight loss can suck... Not just losing weight but getting 'fit' or toned, can suck at times. Yes the reward of it is amazing but the road to that reward can be tough and bumpy. Especially when you are around other that well..... you know.... do not get what you are going through! I know everyone's fitness journey is different, so different things effect different people. However we all have those people who just get under our skin! I will name out a few that not only I have come across [Those will have a star by them.] but that I hear from my clients and others.

A girl & her dog! [Thankful Tuesday]

Oh my best friend, headache, workout buddy, child, laughter and cuddle buddy! No I am not talking about Raul right now. hahaha. But rather this adorable four legged baby to the left! [that is not such a baby anymore]

When Raul and I first got married and during our first deployment together we talked about getting a dog. Being outdoor people, Raul's dream dog to have was a German Short Haired Pointer. So when it came to a dog, this is what we would be getting. I was completely fine with this, I just wanted a dog! haha.

So Raul found a man who breeds champion blood line pointers that lived in the area I was in. We looked at the available pups, picked one out and it was already taken. A man from out of state already put his deposit in. So we looked again, looking at the coat, we picked another one. He was available! Raul being deployed I went to pick him up about a week later on my own. Having his cage, collar, toys and food already at home and waiting, I was beyond excited! As Raul was also!

Walking into the mans back yard was dozens of pointers! Beautiful dogs! And then there was Cash (: Cutest of them all! After talking, getting paper work and walking out the door to make our way back home; I was ecstatic.

A Families Love. [Thankful Tuesday]I

Is life really any different when you have family with you then without?

I know everyone will not have the same answer to this and some really will not know first hand on what one is true or not. However, I do. I know my answer to this at least. Not by just being one way my whole life and thinking, 'Yes. this is how it is suppose to be. This is better.' But rather being in both sides of the court. If you really know me and was by my side during my high school years, you will already know my story. That is about a handful of people though so if you're reading this and not those people, you don't know what the heck I am talking about. That is okay though, here is some background information;

How much does it cost to stay fit.

Right before summer comes [I would say about two months before] and after the new year [yeahhh. those new year 'resolutions'] people are all hopping onto the fitness lifestyle change. And when I say lifestyle, I cannot stress that word enough. Because it really is. It is not a over night fix.. A week fix or a one month fix... Depending on your goal, this can take 6 months... two years.... or longer! This is something people say. 'they know' however do not really KNOW! That when faced with the reality of busting your butt off in the gym for a week; you do not see the results you want and you quit or wonder why. This is one of the many things some do not really understand.

It's National Donut Day!

Yes! Today is National Donut Day! And I celebrated it! What exactly did I celebrate though? Well.... I will give you some small information on it,
"National Doughnut Day started on June 7, 1938 when a young military doctor by the name of Morgan Pett was sent to a military base. On his way there he stopped at a bakery and picked up 8 dozen doughnuts. When he arrived at the base he started helping many wounded soldiers, and would give them a free doughnut. One man he helped was a Lieutenant General by the name of Samuel Geary. Samuel Geary greatly appreciated the help on his leg, and the doughnut (as he was a very comical man) so he decided to make a fund raiser with Morgan Pett to give every wounded soldier, and the needy a doughnut. This fund raiser was later joined with the Salvation Army. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Doughnut_Day)" Got it? Awesome!

Embrace the glorious mess that you are. [Talk about it Thursday]

Everyone on social media usually shows the beauty in their life but never the darkness. They show how their life is truly so perfect but not really what is behind closed doors. Which don't get me wrong, I totally get. You do not want people to know your business. Or maybe you just want people to think you really have it all together [which we all know you really don't all of the time. it is okay.] However I am going to share something short with you that happened this morning and the morning before..... well really it happens a lot. But I get a lot of comments on it, joked about and asked how. And every time I sit there and think in my head. Gosh if you only knew. Then I think maybe it is because I put on this face, like this is so easy and I am the freaking bomb all of the time. Well..... I am not. And what I am talking about is how this fitness lifestyle is so easy. [Which this relates with life also.] I am going to be honest and real. I am going to speak from the heart and let you see the true me.

The top 10 questions I am asked about fitness and my job. [daily.]

A few months back I went and had dinner with some very big and important people. Of course the thing we all had in common was the career with AdvoCare, The faith in God and determination to live the life we dreamed. But there was something else that we agreed on and just could not stop laughing about. However in AdvoCare you will come to see that we all come from different walks of life and even backgrounds in careers. Some are coaches, teachers, doctors, lawyers, dentist, sales associates, unemployed, full time mothers and fathers; so we all have some stories to tell and advice to share. And that was just it. Being A doctor, lawyer, dentist, or a coach. You are asked for advice. 'What toothpaste is best or how can I whiten my teeth?', 'Doc, I have been having headaches constantly for weeks now. Do you know what it might be?', 'So my baby daddy has stopped paying his child support, what do I need to do.'. I even got asked questions when I was outside of work when I worked at Sports Authority. 'Yo Miriah, you got them Nike 5.0s in?' However now being a Personal Trainer, Fitness Nutrition Specialist and working AdvoCare; I get asked many questions every day. The same questions every day. [Nothing is wrong with this. I love being asked questions and helping people out. Even if it is the same question that was asked a week before.] However, I want to share on here the top ten questions I get daily with ANSWERS!
