Currently I have been in Montana sense Friday [not long I know but I have learned some things and seen how different this place is. Before telling you all the stuff with Montana, I just have to tell you about the adventure up here! Raul and I left the 23rd, I took the first shift driving [14 hours, Corsicana, TX > Denver, Colorado] Once making it to Denver it was going on 11 o'clock. I was extremely worn out. We started looking for a hotel and.... the seven that we called were all booked! I became beyond frustrated. After about 30 minutes of calling, we found one. Was about $110 a night. Once getting there, all I seen was pot heads and gangbangers. And by gangbangers I am talking about bandanas out the back pocket. Once we got there and seen where we were staying we had to wait in the car for about 20 minutes. Being we had a 22 and 308 with us that needed to make it to the room... [You think walking in front of potheads or GBers with a 5k gun is a smart idea? Didn't think so.] Sleeping there we heard people all night and one time even thought someone was trying to come into the room. Thankfully Cash has become a guard dog and very protective now with us. Come the next morning we went ahead and headed out instead of staying around, seeing all of Denver. Although we did stop at Bass Pro World [pretty awesome I shall say.] Raul took this drive [about 12 hours] Once we got into Billings, Montana we seen they were having biker rally for the weekend. I have never seen sooo many motorcycles in one place. With Raul's school not starting till three more days and not getting ahold of the man over Raul's school and our living situation we were stuck with getting another hotel. Woohooo!! SIKE! Because of the rally, every single hotel in billings and a 3 hour radius were sold clear out!! Our luck huh? No hotel.. No one answering the phone.. So what did we do? We bought us a tent from Walmart [5x7] and camped right in the school driveway. No I am not kidding either.
However thankfully the next morning Dan [Raul's teacher] called us back and let us into our RV. We got settled in and then began to explore! We found this totally awesome dog park that Cash loves! It is 6 acres gated in with trees, flat grass surface and then huge rocks [the picture above] that the dogs and well us, like to climb. Cash spends his time playing with the other dogs and then chasing birds that fly out of the shrubs. [Such a bird dog...] We found a cabela's around the mountain and a scheels [which is a HUGE outdoors store with a ferris wheel inside of it. We checked it out 30 minutes before it closed so I did not get to take pictures but I will. It is awesome though.] We also found a beautiful path along side the high way on the mountain. I did take pictures and want to share some with you!
Only if pictures could do it justice. And the view from stepping on the edge, is breathtaking!!! Cash did not like It though! We also found a frozen yogurt place called 'CherryBerry' right up the road from us. If you know FroYo is mine and Raul's thang! [It was delicious!]
Now to some things I find interesting here where we live;
- People are actually nice here. No they are not Texan nice but they are welcoming. We have met people just from the dog park that are open to carry on a conversation. And although it might be the people at the gym up the roads job to be nice, they are awesome! They even offered to save us $20 bucks on our memberships! [we took it. did not have to ask us twice!]
- Their streets are numbers! I thought Corsicana, TX was the only place that had street numbers. Although this is only near down town Billings. It is still awesome! Plus Billings is a huge city.
- Everyone here has a northern ancient. Duh we are up in the north but they sound Canadian at times and it really is different hearing!
- There are casinos everywhere!!!!!!!! And by everywhere I mean there is about 9 just on the road we live on! Guess when you live in a state with no gambling laws, this is what you get. I hear they have great food in them though, we are going to have to check that out.
- Everyone here is a 'wing it' person. They go with the flow of things. They take what they have now and make due with it. Things aren't ideal? Okay make it work.
- The thing that got me the most is what they call garage sales / yard sales... They call it a rummage sale. Never in my life have I heard this until the other day.
Short, sweet and simple; Raul started Taxidermy School today and we got our gym memberships working over here today also soooooo we are getting into our routine of things!!!! I am back to cleaning, cooking and all those other wifely things! (: Come the weekend we will be doing some hikes and adventuring. Hopefully heading out to Yellowstone soon also! So keep and eye out for our many adventures!! Lunch time is approaching so this wife needs to go cook! Talk to you later! God Bless!
